In the first race of the day, Amanda Stopa (1859) of Snohomish sets the pace. Carol Xu of Newport (1575) took control of the race in the last few laps eventually winning in 11:35.62. Amanda Stopa was 2nd with a time of 11:48.47 and Stephanie Shuel of West Valley was 3rd at 11:48.99.
Mike Vetter (1459) of LaSalle won the Boys Varsity 100m Dash in 11.40 followed by Brett Blanshan (1733) of Selah in 11.50 and Foi Malaki (3rd from right) of Eisenhower in 11.56
Selah's Shene Davis (1699, far right) won the Girls Varsity 100m Dash in 13.07. Bianca Green (1165) of Snohomish was 2nd with a time of 13.14 and Lauren Sandri (2027) of South Whidbey was 3rd in 13.18. There were 14 girls who finished under 14 seconds.
Abdi Hassan (1519) from Nathan Hale comes on strong at the end of the Boys Varsity 1600m run to win in 4:21.97. Chris Kwiatkowski (899) from Bellingham was 2nd and Isak Bergman (1098) from Ellensburg was 3rd.
It looked to be an exciting race as Lisa Egami (601) from Abbotsford, B.C. and Chelsea VanDeBrake (970) from Eisenhower battled it out in the first two laps. Chelsea went on to win in 5:05.66. Lisa Egami, the current Meet Record holder dropped out of the race. Michelle Schubert of West Valley was 2nd in 5:08.63 and Kelsey Walker from Bellevue was 3rd in 5:16.48
The Eisenhower team of Foi Malaki, Jordan Wood, Donovan Beath and Jeffrey Hill won the Boys Varsity 4x100m Relay with a time of 45.01. West Valley was 2nd with a time of 45.30 and Selah was 3rd at 45.54.
Alex Williams-Edwards, Bianca Green, Erica Hayes (1167) and Megan Chapin (1156) from Garfield took 1st place in the Girls Varsity 4x100m Relay with a time of 49.91. South Whidbey was 2nd in 50.89 and Bellingham was 3rd with a time of 52.68.
Boys Varsity 300m Hurdles: Jordan Shepone of Garfield was 1st in 39.84, Nick Mundell of Snohomish was 2nd in 40.62 and Ali AlHussaini of Jackson was 3rd in 40.66. Pictured are Patrick Hampton (1113) and Caleb Nelson (1126) of Sunnyside and Michael Graham (2113) of Sunnyside.
Girls Varsity 300m Hurdles: Jill Erickson of Woodinville was 1st in 46.58, Jessica Suddaby of Abbotsford was 2nd in 47.36 and Karen Lawton of Cedarcrest was 3rd in 47.70. In one of the closest finishes of the day Joel Jensen (895) of Bellingham beat out Cole Manahan (2405) of Ballard by 3 One-Hundreths of a second, finishing in 51.60 in the Boys Varsity 400m Run. JD Peters (2046) of South Whidbey was 3rd with a time of 52.13.
Angela Shaw (604) from Abbotsford was the winner of the Girls Varsity 400m run with a time of 59.87. Caiti Schmitz (1267) of Highland was 2nd in 100.34 and Katherine East (2006)of South Whidbey was 3rd in 101.37.
It was a seesaw battle between Abbotsford, BC and Snohomish in the Boys Varsity Distance Medley Relay. David Kostelyk (610) of Abbotsford and John Pedack (1957) of Snohomish went out strong in the first leg (1200m) leaving the rest of the pack behind. Nick Mundell (1949) of Snohomish passed Zachary Whitton (611) of Abbotsford in the last 200m of the second leg (400m). leg.
In the third leg of the race (1200m), Mitch Culley (608) of Abbotsford made up ground against Caleb Babcock (1879) of Snohomish eventually passing him and giving his team a lead going into the final leg.
It was a tight race in the final leg (1600m) between Steve Mason (1939) of Snohomish and Manpreet Dhaliwal (609) of Abbotsford. Snohomish won at the finish with a time of 11:08.60. Abbotsford finished in 11:08.75. Ballard was 3rd at 11:38.80.
Samantha Lotnick (602), Jennifer Weslowski (607), Jessica Suddaby (605) and Angela Shaw (604) of Abbotsford, B.C. break the Girls' Distance Medley Relay Meet Record set in 2005 by the Abbotsford, B.C. team of Lotnick, Suddaby, Weslowski and Campbell. Their times were 12:44.13 in 2006 and 12:53.97 in 2005. Snohomish was 2nd at 13:21.86 and Ballard was 3rd at 13:26.38
Megan Chapin (not pictured), Alex Willaims-Edwards (1190), Bianca Green (1165) and Erica Hayes (1167) of Garfield set a new Meet Record in the Girls' Varsity 4x200m Relay with a time of 1:46.28 (corrected time/clerical error). South Whidbey came in 2nd at 1:47.99 and Selah was 3rd at 1:50.53
Zack Gussin (696) of Ballard won the Boys Varsity 3200m race under the lights with a time of 9:50.60. Yonas Berhe (1676) of Roosevelt was 2nd at 9:53.30 and Brian Rakestraw (2291) of Woodinville was 3rd at 10:03.90
