On a day that started out cold and wet and eventually turned warm and sunny and then dark and cold, we were treated to many exciting performances and witnessed 5 Meet Records fall.
For the second time in 2 weeks at Zaepfel Stadium, Selah's Mike Blanchard set a new Meet Record in the Pole vault with a State Best height of 14'9" in a close contest with David Pinkerton of Snohomish (14' 6").
Megan Chapin (not pictured), Alex Willaims-Edwards (1190), Bianca Green (1165) and Erica Hayes (1167) of Garfield set a new Meet Record in the Girls' Varsity 4x200m Relay with a time of 1:46.28 (corrected time/clerical error).
Samantha Lotnick (602), Jennifer Weslowski (607), Jessica Suddaby (605) and Angela Shaw (604) of Abbotsford, B.C. break the Girls' Distance Medley Relay Meet Record set in 2005 by the Abbotsford, B.C. team of Lotnick, Suddaby, Weslowski and Campbell. Their times were 12:44.13 in 2006 and 12:53.97 in 2005.
Erin Kearney of Cedarcrest set a new Meet Record of 2:29.10 in the Girls' Frosh 800m race.
Jessica Yates of Snohomish set a new Girls' Varsity Triple Jump Meet Record with a jump of 35'-10 1/2". Jessica also placed first in the Girls' Varsity Long Jump to lead Snohomish to a win in the Long Jump Relay. Jessica is pictured with teamates Rachel Iverson and Minde Politte on the medal stand.
