Dear Coach,
The count down to another great Sunfair Invitational Cross Country Meet is well under way. All indications point towards another great competition, even though it will be difficult to top the excitement of the past few years. Over 120 schools and 2,500 individual runners from British Columbia, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah and Washington are expected to participate. The Sunfair Invitational has become the largest participation event for all high school sports in the Northwest. From the early interest we have been recieving from teams all over the west coast we expect this to be the largest Sunfair ever!
On behalf of the Yakima School District and Eisenhower High School we would like to issue an invitation to your team to participate in the 2008 Sunfair Invitational.
Please Note: All Team Registrations must be submitted on line at Athletic.net by October 1st. Please follow the directions on our Registration page. The finish line is run on a bar code system and every runner is required to have a race number. No runners will be entered the day of the meet.
The course will be similar to last year with only minor alterations anticipated. Remember that the Frosh race will be run over the last 2-miles of the 3-mile course, and have the same start as all the other high school races. The only difference will be a shortened ‘dog leg’ prior to the 1-mile mark. More information, including a course map and pictures from 2006 and 2007 are available at SunfairRun.com.
The meet will start at 8:45 am with a race for grade school students and conclude with an awards ceremony on the terraces at Franklin Park at 4:30 pm. An entry fee of $120.00 is required per school for a combined boys and girls team, or $60 for a boys or girls team, or a $10.00 entry fee for each individual participant. There is no entry fee required for the grade school, middle school or open community races.
